Our client is a family-owned Australian food manufacturer based in Pendle Hill, Western Sydney, producing a broad range of chilled and specialty products across retail and food service. As the business grows, they need an experienced Quality Assurance Specialist / QA Coordinator to take real ownership of QA and food safety across a hands-on, production-focused site.
This is a fully onsite role in a genuine family business, not a corporate structure with a large QA team behind you. You'll be the main quality person on the ground, working closely with production and reporting through to an Operations Manager with technical oversight from the wider business. It suits someone who wants autonomy, is comfortable being close to the floor, and can back their technical judgement with clear, confident communication.
Duties include:- Owning day-to-day QA and food safety across the site
- Maintaining HACCP, GMP and quality system documentation
- Completing QC checks across raw materials, production and finished goods
- Managing non-conformances, CAPA, customer/supplier complaints and root cause investigations
- Leading and preparing for internal audits, external audits and customer/regulatory requirements
- Maintaining SOPs, specifications, records and QA documentation
- Reviewing PIFs, specifications, nutrition panels, labels, allergens and supplier ingredient changes
- Supporting traceability, recall and mock recall processes
- Working directly with production to resolve quality issues, including pushing back where needed
- Coaching staff on GMP, food safety and QA expectations
- Balancing food safety and quality standards against production and commercial realities
- Identifying practical improvements across quality and production processes
- At least 5 years' QA/QC experience
- Previous experience in food manufacturing
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP, GMP and food safety systems
- Hands-on experience with audits, CAPA, NCRs and quality documentation
- Experience with PIFs, nutrition panels, labels, allergens or supplier ingredient changes
- Confidence working directly with production teams, including having difficult conversations
- Clear, strong written and verbal communication skills, you'll be writing customer and supplier correspondence yourself
- A practical, resilient, hands-on approach suited to a smaller, family-run business
- The ability to work autonomously and take full ownership of the QA function
- Food science, food technology qualifications or strong practical food manufacturing QA experience will be highly regarded
Experience across chilled foods, dips, pestos, hummus, dressings, emulsions, antipasto, ready meals, bakery, dairy or broader FMCG food manufacturing would be highly regarded. Candidates from pharmaceutical QA may also be considered where they bring strong systems experience and are genuinely comfortable moving into a hands-on manufacturing environment.
This role is fully onsite with no work from home, standard start times of 7am or 8am with occasional flexibility for earlier starts around 6:30am. If you want real ownership of a QA function, enjoy being close to production, and can bring both technical capability and commercial judgement to the role, please apply with your CV or email Michael Burne at mburne@baysidegroup.com.au for a confidential discussion.
