As a registered Group Training Organisation (GTO) and licenced labour hire agency, we offer apprenticeships and traineeships in a range of disciplines, using a three-step approach to provide you with the knowledge and experience required to make an informed choice about your future.

To learn more about what is involved, fill in the form and we’ll be in touch. In the comment section, please let us know what type of traineeship or apprenticeship you are interested in.

What is the difference between traineeships and apprenticeships?

Fairwork has provided information on these differences, which you may find useful. The type of qualification you choose and the industry you wish to work in will determine whether you need to complete an apprenticeship or traineeship.

Apprenticeships allow you to study for a trade qualification, for example in a skilled trade as an electrician, carpenter or welder. It will take approximately 3-4 years to complete an apprenticeship. However, traineeships are vocational, allowing you to study for a certificate level qualification to work in a particular industry or occupation. For example, Aged Care Traineeships, Furniture Making Traineeships, Apprentice Electrician, Apprentice Fitter and Turner. It will take approximately 1-2 years to complete a traineeship.

There are differences in pay rates between an employee completing a traineeship to attain a certificate and an employee completing a diploma. The government’s approved training schemes can be a good starting point.

Another difference is how suspensions and cancellations are handled, with a brief summary detailed below.

Cancellations and Suspensions for Apprenticeships

To cancel the training contract, the apprentice and employer must both agree. If the apprentice or employer wishes to cancel the training contract, and the other does not, they can ask the Victorian Registration & Qualifications Authority (VRQA) to make a binding decision to resolve the dispute. If the employer cannot afford to keep an apprentice, they can ask the VRQA to suspend or cancel the training contract. Whereas if the employer’s business is sold, the new owner must continue the apprenticeship. Acclaimed Workforce will work with the apprentice where possible to assist.

Cancellations and Suspensions for Traineeships

For traineeships, the trainee or employer can cancel the training contract without the other’s agreement. The VRQA cannot make a binding decision to resolve a dispute about the cancellation of a traineeship training contract. If the employer cannot afford to keep a trainee, they can suspend or cancel the training contract and if the employer’s business is sold, the new owner does not need to continue the traineeship.

Trainees & Apprentices

Australia faces significant shortages in regional areas, and nationally for trades people. To address these skill shortages, Acclaimed Workforce facilitates trainee and apprenticeship programs, collaborating with training providers, business, and industry to meet specific requirements.

We help organisations access government funding and manage these staff, often across multiple placements.
